*WHEN IS A TOUGH TOY ACTUALLY… DESTROYED?*

We thought this was a great opportunity to explain a little more about our Compacted Cotton Tough Toys — how they work and, importantly, what you should expect as your dog enjoys them.

Every so often, we’ll receive a message saying, “I thought this toy would last longer than 10 minutes!”

But when we see the photo, quite often an ear has been chewed, an edge nibbled or the leather outer has started to come away.

And actually… that’s exactly what they’re designed to do!

Our Tough Toys are NOT indestructible. They’re designed to be chewed, gnawed, played with and thoroughly enjoyed.

So, what makes them tough?

At the heart of each toy are thousands of tiny natural cotton fibres, compressed incredibly tightly using water pressure — no glues or chemicals.

This creates a super-dense core that makes it much harder for dogs to sink their teeth straight in and rip the toy apart.

No loose filling = no explosion of fluff across your living room!

Instead, your dog has to gradually work around the edges, chewing and wearing the toy down over time.

The leather may become marked.

An ear might disappear.

The face may eventually be peeled away.

The edges will become rounded and worn.

But that doesn’t necessarily mean the toy is finished!

Even if much of the leather outer is removed, the compacted cotton core can maintain its shape and continue providing plenty more chewing and playtime.

We’ve included examples showing the different stages our Tough Toys can go through before they’re truly ready for retirement.

In fact, we LOVE seeing them looking battered and well-loved — it means they’re doing exactly what they were designed to do!

Our aim isn’t to create an indestructible toy. It’s to offer a natural, longer-lasting alternative to traditional stuffed toys, without synthetic stuffing, plastic squeakers or a living room covered in fluff.

So if your Aurora Paws Tough Toy loses an ear…

Don’t write it off just yet — your dog might only be getting started!
