Horbury Craft and Street Fayre - Support Small Businesses

Updated: Mar 10, 2023

Well we did it!!! our very first Craft and Street Fayre. What an amazing day, full of fantastic customers, local artisans and crafters. Horbury Craft and street fayre is held every year in June and visiting as a shopper has always been a highlight, but to be on the other side selling your products was an experience we will never forget.

From the moment we arrived we were greeted by the warm smiles and hellos of the other traders, you can tell that these people are passionate about their handcrafted products.

Not once did I see the soulless expression of large corporate high street retailers, these were people who believed in what they sold, who put nothing but love in to their products.

Laughter filled every stall with thousands of revellers walking around having a chat whilst eating home made goods and supporting local.

We were made to feel incredibly welcome, if anyone out there is starting a small craft business and is unsure about attending such fayres, I would say "just do it" the outpouring of love and passion for our products over two days was incredibly overwhelming.

Shout out to KlhEvents who helped promote and organise the event. If you are interested in getting yourself out there and introducing your small businesses to the world, give KLHEvents a like and follow on Facebook.

A special mention to The Flamingos Teapot who kept us fed and watered throughout the whole event, I would highly recommend paying them a visit, their cakes and coffees were to die for. Their shop is an experience in itself, think Alice in wonderland! They are big supporters of LGBTQ, priding themselves on being a safe space where everyone is welcome. I cant wait to visit for an afternoon tea soon.

Our fabulous stall neighbours, Cakes by Michelle were an absolute highlight of the event, keeping us entertained throughout, one of the nicest couples we have ever met. They had some epic looking buns for the kids, everything from Thomas the Tank engine, Buzz Lightyear, Encanto and many more. If you are ever looking for a wedding or celebration cake I would highly recommend.

One last mention for scentsfrom77 who had some stunning wax melts, being sandwiched between a cake stall and a wax melt stand was definitely a bonus. Thanks for the warm welcome you gave us.

Your support has been nothing short of amazing, waking up every day to new followers, positive comments, pictures and videos of your fur babies playing or wearing our products. It really has been a highlight of my year so far.

Starting a business in 2022 is difficult, faced with the challenges of promoting your brand amongst millions of others trying to stand out on the internet, it can be a lonely and frustrating experience. Sometimes no matter how much love, passion or time you put in to something, if the algorithm's doesn't pick you up, it can be hard.

But meeting you all face to face, hearing your comments and praise about our designs and products has been the most humbling experience, to see dogs walking around in our harnesses and leads, items that you have spent months designing and curating is the best thing in the world.

This is only the beginning, watch out people of Yorkshire, we have the bug now and we will be popping up at many more events in the coming weeks and months.

Thank you again for all the support you have shown us, we couldn't do it without you, keep checking our social media pages for all our upcoming events, hope to see you all again soon.
